About ASE
The story of Aero Systems Engineering, or ASE, begins in 1967 when Lars Broberg and a few colleagues left their jobs to establish a new venture. Their initial focus was on creating test cells for the powerful engines of large aircraft like the DC-10 and 747. The company steadily grew, expanding its capabilities to include testing facilities and equipment for various other engine types. A key development in ASE's journey occurred in 1993 with the acquisition of FluiDyne, a company founded in 1952 that specialized in aerodynamic testing solutions, including wind tunnel design. This move significantly broadened ASE's service offerings. Another expansion took place in 2007 with the purchase of Celtech, a leader in mobile engine test systems for the military. The company's trajectory took a significant turn in July 2020 when Calspan Technology Holding Corporation acquired ASE. The newly formed entity, Calspan Aero Systems Engineering (Calspan ASE), became a global provider of testing and engineering services for jet engine and industrial gas turbine manufacturers.
