The company was founded in Germany, with the holding company established on January 1, 2010, by Michael Neisen and Gürsel Sen. It originated from ASAP Engineering, founded by Gürsel Sen in 2007. The firm is headquartered in Gaimersheim, Germany, and operates through nine locations across the country.

In August 2023, Asap Holding was acquired by HCLTech, a global technology company, for an enterprise value of €251.1 million. Following the acquisition, Asap continues to operate as an independent, wholly-owned subsidiary, combining its automotive engineering expertise with HCLTech's global network. This partnership aims to enhance service offerings, particularly in software-defined vehicles, modern E/E architectures, and automated testing. Before the acquisition, ZF Friedrichshafen was an investor in the company.

Asap's business model is centered on providing comprehensive services across the entire vehicle product lifecycle. This includes five key areas: Electrics/Electronics, Software Development, Consulting & Service, Test & Validation, and Vehicle Engineering. The company serves top automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and tier-1 suppliers, primarily in Germany. Its services range from developing custom software solutions and control unit software to constructing pre-series vehicles and prototypes in its dedicated Pre-series Centre. The firm also offers extensive testing and validation in certified labs and provides consulting on project management, process optimization, and quality assurance.
