Founded in 2024 by Nanxi Ding, Leo Rees-Murphy, and Ofir Weinstock, ARTEM was established to address the complexities of carbon pricing mechanisms. CEO Nanxi Ding's firsthand experience managing her family's automotive manufacturing business and navigating the intricacies of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) highlighted the need for a streamlined compliance solution. This experience motivated the founding team to create a platform to assist other companies facing similar regulatory hurdles. In December 2024, the Cham, Switzerland-based startup secured €1.5 million in a seed funding round led by Vireo Ventures to advance its platform.
ARTEM offers an end-to-end platform that combines software and hardware to help EU importers and non-EU producers collect, track, manage, verify, and report GHG emissions data across borders. The system is designed to integrate with existing industrial data sources like SCADA, MES, and ERP systems to unify and harmonize fragmented data into a single, auditable source of truth. This enables real-time emissions monitoring and automated reporting. The platform includes a compliance engine with pre-configured legal logic for regulations such as CBAM, EU ETS, and others, which is kept current by a team of legal experts.
The business model centers on providing this compliance infrastructure as a service, generating revenue by helping clients navigate complex international regulations and avoid costly penalties for non-compliance. The company serves a range of clients, from raw material producers to importers and logistics forwarders, across various industries including cement, steel, aluminum, fertilizers, and oil & gas. With a team of over 50 employees and six offices worldwide, ARTEM serves clients in more than 10 countries.
