Arkion

Arkion (formerly known as Skyqraft) is a Stockholm-based deep tech startup founded in 2019. It develops a web-based, AI-powered analytics platform tailored for power grid inspection, turning high-resolution images, thermal scans, and LiDAR data into detailed, actionable insights on grid asset health. By combining advanced computer vision with human quality assurance, Arkion enables utilities to move from traditional, reactive maintenance to predictive, condition-based strategies—helping detect faults earlier, reduce outages, and optimize investment and maintenance decisions.

The platform provides a comprehensive view of the grid—allowing users to zoom in from the macro-level down to individual components. Users can sort and filter assets by type, condition, and severity, create prioritized repair lists, integrate findings directly into work-order systems, and generate detailed field reports enriched with images, driving directions, and notes on terrain or vegetation.

Arkion has moved into a strong growth phase: in 2024 alone, the company rebranded and expanded its platform to include substation analytics, enhanced UI, and features like automated 3D and thermal data integration. It signed major contracts—including with Norway’s largest distribution grid operator Elvia and Brazil’s Energisa, for whom Arkion will assess 2.5 million grid assets over three years. The company has processed over 50,000 km of power lines, refining its models’ accuracy and scale.

In July 2024, Arkion closed a Series A funding round of $4 million led by Subvenio Invest, Neptunia Invest, Antler, and other angel investors. With a team of 11–51 employees, the company is expanding its footprint across Europe and entering the North American market. It has already signed deals in Brazil and Norway and continues forging new partnerships aimed at building the resilient, net-zero–aligned grid of the future.
