Founded in 2021 by Dr. Tareq Dalbah, Omar Koudsi, and Hekmat Al-Hasi, the company is headquartered in Amman, Jordan, with an office in Berlin, Germany. The founding was inspired by Dr. Dalbah's experience as a psychiatrist in Germany, where he recognized a significant need for mental health services that were linguistically and culturally attuned to the Arab community. He witnessed the relief of Arabic-speaking patients when they could communicate in their native language with a professional who understood their cultural background, which highlighted a critical gap in care for the 20 million Arabs living outside their home countries.

The company operates on a subscription-based model, offering live sessions and unlimited chat with matched therapists. Its services are aimed at both individual consumers (B2C) and businesses (B2B). For its B2B clients, which include corporations like Mercy Corps, UNICEF, and Oxfam, Arab Therapy provides employee wellness programs that feature individual and group therapy sessions, educational seminars, and detailed, anonymized reports on the overall mental health of the workforce. A key differentiator is its commitment to quality, with therapists undergoing rigorous training programs supervised by Arab doctors in Germany, ensuring high standards of care. This focus addresses the global shortage of well-trained, Arabic-speaking mental health professionals.

In April 2024, Arab Therapy secured $1 million in a seed funding round led by Flat6Labs, Vision Health Pioneers, and a group of angel investors. This capital is being used to expand into new markets, enhance its technology, and scale its B2B operations. The platform was initially developed under the name Jalsaat before rebranding. The founding team includes Dr. Tareq Dalbah (CEO), a psychiatrist with a background in product management; Hekmat Al-Hasi (CTO); and Omar Dalbah, who leads marketing efforts.
