About APS Holdings

APS Inc., formerly known as APS Holdings, is a South Korean company that manufactures and sells equipment for the semiconductor and display industries. Established in 1994 as Kornic Systems Corporation, the company changed its name to AP Systems before spinning off its manufacturing division and converting to a holding company, APS Holdings, in 2017. In March 2023, it changed its name again to APS Inc.

The company operates through several segments, including a software division for equipment control and a holding division that provides management consulting and real estate services. Its core business revolves around developing advanced manufacturing equipment. A significant area of focus is on the production of ultra-high-resolution OLED on Silicon (OLEDoS) displays for the extended reality (XR) market, which includes augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices. APS Holdings has successfully developed 3,000 pixels per inch (ppi) OLEDoS panels using a direct RGB deposition method, which offers advantages over the more common W-OLED with color filter technology. This was achieved through the development of proprietary fine metal mask (FMM) technology, a critical component for depositing organic materials onto substrates. The company utilizes a laser patterning method for its FMMs, which it believes is more suitable for achieving high resolutions than traditional etching methods. It is also exploring the development of FMMs based on silicon substrates.

Through its subsidiaries, such as APS Materials and APS Research, the company handles the entire process from FMM parts manufacturing to deposition and encapsulation. APS is also involved in a government-backed project in South Korea with the goal of developing a 4,000 ppi AR glass prototype. The company's group includes affiliates like AP Systems, Nextin, DE&T, and Kornic Automation, covering various aspects of the semiconductor, display, and factory automation sectors.
