About AppTrigger
AppTrigger, Inc., founded in 2001 and formerly known as Carrius Technologies, operated as a provider of telecommunications application connectivity solutions. The company was based in Richardson, Texas, in the United States. On March 9, 2010, AppTrigger was acquired by Metaswitch Networks, a UK-based telecommunications software company. This acquisition was a strategic move for Metaswitch to enter the service broker market and expand its IP migration solutions for global carriers. At the time of the acquisition, Chris Todd served as the CEO of AppTrigger. The deal added approximately 30 AppTrigger employees to Metaswitch's staff.
AppTrigger's core business was centered on enabling telecom operators to deploy revenue-generating applications across evolving fixed-line, mobile, and IP networks. The company targeted the largest global carriers, helping them reduce service deployment costs and accelerate time-to-market. Its business model involved providing software that acted as a mediation layer, normalizing protocols and interfaces between different network infrastructures, such as legacy Intelligent Networks (IN) and modern IP Multimedia Subsystems (IMS).
The company's flagship product was the Ignite Service Broker platform. This software network element managed service interaction and composition between the application layer and the network control layer. A key feature of Ignite was its ability to support a wide range of pre-defined application interworking solutions, including local number portability (LNP), wireless prepaid services, and network interactive voice response (IVR). By providing this abstraction layer, the Ignite platform allowed service providers to preserve investments in legacy infrastructure while launching new services on next-generation networks. The platform was deployed in multiple tier-one carrier networks globally and was capable of processing billions of calls per month.
