About Apheris AI
Apheris AI is a Berlin deep-tech company founded in 2019 by Robin Röhm (CEO) and Michael Höh (CTO) that builds federated computing infrastructure so life-sciences organisations can train AI and run analytics on decentralised data without moving sensitive raw datasets. Its Compute Gateway keeps data local while enabling governed collaboration across pharmaceutical companies and hospitals—clients have included Johnson & Johnson, Roche, Sanofi, AbbVie and AstraZeneca—and powers networks such as the AI Structural Biology Consortium for protein-complex prediction. In January 2025 Apheris closed a Series A of $8.25 million (about €8 million) co-led by OTB Ventures and eCAPITAL, with Octopus Ventures and Heal Capital returning, bringing total funding to about €20.1 million ($20.8 million) to scale life-sciences data networks, host foundational models and expand biopharma deployments.
