About Amber Electric

Amber Electric (Amber) is an Australian energy company that gives households access to real-time wholesale electricity prices and automates home batteries and EVs so customers charge when renewable power is cheap and earn by discharging when prices spike. Co-founded and co-led by Chris Thompson and Dan Adams, Amber says it is Australia’s largest residential battery automation product, orchestrating more than half of automated home batteries in the country, and its technology underpins E.ON Next’s Next Optimise smart tariff and battery/EV automation product in the UK, with vehicle-to-grid (V2G) capabilities rolling out. In September 2026 Amber closed a nearly twice-oversubscribed $78.5 million Series E led by 1GT, Morgan Stanley’s climate tech fund, with Environmental Technologies Fund (ETF Partners), Innovation Victoria and E.ON, to scale in Australia, expand across Europe and keep investing in products and infrastructure that put households at the centre of the energy transition.
