About Altave

Altave provides intelligent monitoring solutions for complex and high-risk environments, focusing on enhancing safety and operational efficiency. The company serves clients in the Oil & Gas, Mining, Energy, Ports, Agribusiness, and Defense & Security sectors. Its business model involves delivering a full-service solution that combines hardware, such as cameras and sensors on various platforms, with its proprietary AI-powered software, ALTAVE HARPIA, to provide real-time, actionable data. The company was founded in March 2011 by two engineers, Bruno Avena de Azevedo and Leonardo Mendes Nogueira, both recent graduates of the Aeronautics Institute of Technology (ITA) in Brazil. Their initial venture, which started in an incubator within the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology (DCTA), was centered on using tethered balloons, or aerostats, for monitoring large areas. This made Altave the sole Brazilian company to master this technology in the Southern Hemisphere. A significant milestone was achieved in 2016 when Altave provided four wide-area persistent surveillance aerostats for the Rio Olympic Games, a deployment that brought the company international recognition. The contract, valued at approximately US $8 million, involved delivering the complete systems within a six-month timeframe. Originally focused on hardware, the company transitioned to emphasize its intelligent software capabilities. Today, Altave's core offering is the ALTAVE HARPIA software, an Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) platform that processes information from various sensors to automatically detect anomalies, identify risks, and send georeferenced alerts in real-time. This system is designed to proactively identify occupational, environmental, and property safety risks, enabling predictive maintenance and data-driven decision-making. The technology can be deployed on fixed cameras, drones, and the company's signature aerostats. Altave has also developed wearable technology that integrates with the HARPIA software to enhance worker safety in hazardous environments by providing real-time location monitoring and proximity warnings. The company holds a certificate of exclusivity from Brazil’s Defense and Security Industry Association (ABIMDE) and is accredited as a Strategic Defense Company. It has also obtained the CE marking, allowing its products to be marketed in the European Union.
