About Allied Telesis
In March 1987, a company named System Plus Co. was established in Japan with a modest capital of ¥1 million. Founded by Takayoshi Oshima, the firm quickly rebranded to Allied Telesis K.K. just a few months later and began its focused journey into developing and selling LAN products. From its inception, the playbook was clear: build the hardware that powers connectivity. The company’s early strategy was marked by steady, deliberate international expansion. It established a presence in the USA in late 1987, followed by Singapore in 1991, and Australia in 1995. This wasn't a story of explosive venture capital rounds, but one of methodical growth, building a global footprint piece by piece. Allied Telesis focused on providing the essential, unglamorous hardware of the internet age—Ethernet cards, switches, and routers. A significant milestone arrived in July 2000 when Allied Telesis K.K. was listed on the Second Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. This move provided the capital for further expansion and acquisitions, such as purchasing a networking division from Teltrend Ltd. in the US and later, a wireless networking company named ROOT Inc. in 2005. Today, Allied Telesis continues to operate as a key player in network infrastructure, providing solutions for industries requiring robust and secure connectivity, from government to enterprise.
