About AirBound
Airbound is a Bengaluru aerospace startup founded in 2023 by CEO Naman Pushp that builds autonomous vertical-takeoff tail-sitter drones designed so the aircraft can weigh less than its cargo, aiming for cost parity with trucking for certain goods. Its current TRT drone weighs about 3.3 pounds and carries around 2.2 pounds; a next version targets roughly 6.6 pounds empty weight and up to 11 pounds payload. Designs and manufacturing stay in-house at a 43,000-square-foot Bengaluru facility. Airbound has completed more than 13,000 autonomous flights across Bengaluru and Guntur, including over 1,000 with Narayana Health moving diagnostic samples between facilities in about seven minutes versus hours by road, and has an agreement with Andhra Pradesh toward a multi-city retail, e-commerce and healthcare network. After an $8.65 million seed, Airbound in August 2026 raised a $37 million Series A led by Greenoaks with DoorDash, Lachy Groom, Lightspeed and Humba Ventures — nearly $50 million total — to scale manufacturing and larger aircraft while BVLOS regulation remains the main bottleneck.
