Aipai, established in 2009 by Tienan Wang and headquartered in Guangzhou, China, operates within the multimedia and design software industry. The company initially positioned itself as an online video-sharing platform with a strong focus on the gaming community, securing $38 million in total funding over three rounds, with its most recent Series C funding occurring on August 20, 2014, with participation from notable investors like Tencent, SAIF Partners, and Matrix Partners China.

The core of Aipai's early offering was a video editing software known as "Paidashi." This tool enabled users, primarily gamers, to capture screen content, perform quick edits, merge clips, and add various enhancements such as subtitles, effects, and audio dubbing. The platform was a hub for user-generated content, featuring recordings of popular eSports games like DOTA and StarCraft, alongside other video formats. An SDK was also available for developers to integrate video recording and sharing capabilities into their games. However, in October 2019, the company announced a strategic shift, discontinuing free video upload and playback services for individual users to concentrate on developing high-quality video editing and creation software for a corporate clientele.

More recently, Aipai has ventured into artificial intelligence with the introduction of an AI video creation agent available through aipai.app. This new product line aims to transform video production from a command-based process to a collaborative one between humans and AI. The AI agent is designed to handle complex video production needs, from generating scripts and designing characters to constructing scenes and generating the final video. It caters to a wide range of use cases, including creating short dramas, meme videos, music videos, and brand promotional films. Users can provide an initial idea and then work with the AI to develop the plot, refine characters, and adjust visual effects in real-time.
