Agematis, which operated under the brand name Steek, was a French technology startup established in 2001. The company was founded by Christophe Camborde, who served as Chairman and Managing Director, Yannick Lacastaigneratte, the Chief Operating Officer, and Arnaud Roudsovsky, who led Research & Development. The firm dedicated its initial two years to research and development before launching its first product.

Steek specialized in online data management solutions, offering services that included online file hosting, file sharing, and automated backup. The business initially targeted the small and medium-sized business (SOHO) market with its first product, Yellow Backup, launched in 2004. The company's business model evolved to providing white-label services for larger enterprises, particularly telecom operators, ISPs, and web portals. This strategy involved developing data sharing and storage tools for the customers of its partners. For instance, in 2005, Steek developed a data sharing tool for telecom network Neuf Cegetel.

A significant milestone was the launch of SteekR in 2007, an online storage and sharing platform that allowed users to stream music and videos without prior download and access files from various devices like mobile phones. This platform was adapted for clients such as Orange's portal Voila.fr and Netvibes. Further partnerships included collaborations with Orb for content streaming and PNY to offer supplementary online storage with the purchase of USB keys. Steek ceased operations in 2011 after merging.
