About Advanced Hardware Architectures
Advanced Hardware Architectures (AHA) was a fabless semiconductor company that designed integrated circuits, IP cores and boards for forward error correction (Reed-Solomon, Turbo Product Codes) and lossless data compression, used in satellite and wireless communications, tape storage and digital copiers. Founded in 1988 at the University of Idaho's business incubator in Moscow, Idaho, around error-correction technology developed for NASA, it later moved to the Port of Whitman County business park in Pullman, Washington. In May 2000 Tyco Ventures invested $10M for a 20% stake. After downsizing in 2001, the company sold substantially all of its assets to Comtech Telecommunications Corp. for $7.0M in cash on July 31, 2002; the business continued as the wholly owned subsidiary Comtech AHA Corporation.
