About Adro

Adro is a financial technology company that provides banking services for international students, workers, and entrepreneurs moving to the United States. The company was founded in 2024 by Amarildo Gjondrekaj, Sara Schmitt, and Kevin DeArmond. Gjondrekaj, who serves as CEO, previously worked at Mastercard and has a background as an immigrant from Albania, which he cites as personal motivation for the company's mission. Schmitt (COO) and Gjondrekaj (CEO) are both graduates of the Cornell Tech MBA program.

Adro's core service addresses the difficulty newcomers face in accessing financial products without a U.S. credit history or Social Security Number. The platform offers checking and savings accounts, debit and credit cards, and assistance with business formation (LLC or C-Corp) and obtaining an Employer Identification Number (EIN). This enables clients to establish a financial footprint, build credit, and manage personal and business finances upon their arrival in the U.S. For businesses, Adro facilitates setting up a U.S. presence, including a physical address and phone number, which is necessary for opening accounts with platforms like Stripe and Amazon. Adro is not a bank itself; its banking services are provided through a partnership with Stearns Bank, N.A., Member FDIC.

The company's business model is based on interchange fees paid by merchants on card transactions and revenue sharing agreements with its partner bank on deposits. Adro does not charge subscription or account fees to its individual users. The company's go-to-market strategy involves partnerships with universities and referral partners to reach its target audience. In October 2025, Adro was acquired by Snowball & Co. and was subsequently rebranded as Finfare Money, with Adro's leadership team taking over management of the Finfare Money platform.
