In 1977, a new type of company took root in the Netherlands, one that saw a future in the foliage that accompanies flowers. Adomex was founded as the first Dutch specialist in the 'decoration green' market. What began as a small operation has since grown into a major international player, importing and exporting decorative greenery. The company built its business by establishing direct, long-term relationships with growers around the world. This allows them to supply a wide variety of products, from eucalyptus to leatherleaf fern, to wholesalers, exporters, and large-scale bouquet makers across Europe. Their business model focuses on being more than just a supplier; they act as a knowledge partner for their clients, constantly seeking new products and innovations. A significant event in Adomex's journey occurred when it sold a minority stake to the Dutch private equity firm Van Lanschot Participaties, and later received backing from Bolster Investment Partners in 2016. This move provided the company with capital and strategic support for its international growth ambitions without the pressure of a quick exit. In 2020, Adomex expanded its footprint by acquiring Fronita, a company based at the Plantion auction in Ede, continuing its growth in the Dutch flower trade. Today, Adomex stands as a market leader, a testament to the power of specialization in a niche market.
