AdaSky is an Israeli company founded in 2015 by Avi Katz, alongside co-founder Jacob Dagan, with the mission to enhance mobility safety through advanced thermal sensing. The leadership team includes CEO Yakov Shaharabani, a former Israeli Air Force Brigadier General who leverages decades of experience with thermal sensing in aviation. The founders' extensive background in the semiconductor, thermal sensor, and defense industries provided a strong foundation for adapting mature Far Infrared (FIR) technology for the specific needs of the automotive market.

The company operates in the automotive technology sector, providing its solutions to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Tier-1 suppliers, and developers of autonomous vehicles (AV). Its business model centers on the design, in-house manufacturing, and sale of its thermal camera systems. AdaSky's flagship product is the Viper, a high-resolution, shutterless Long-Wave Infrared (LWIR) thermal camera. The Viper is designed to be compact, affordable, and easily integrated into vehicles to provide perception capabilities in conditions where other sensors like visible-light cameras, radar, and LiDAR may struggle, such as complete darkness, heavy rain, fog, and direct sunlight. A key feature is its ability to passively detect thermal energy radiated from objects, allowing it to differentiate between living beings and inanimate objects from over 200 meters away. The system combines the thermal sensor with proprietary AI-powered computer vision algorithms to detect, classify, and segment objects in real-time, enhancing the functionality of Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) and Forward Collision Warning (FCW) systems. The camera operates without moving parts and utilizes a custom-designed ASIC and image signal processor, contributing to its compact size, low power consumption, and shutterless operation, meaning its vision is never mechanically blinded.

Significant milestones for the company include securing a total of $85 million in funding from investors such as Sungwoo Hitech, Kyocera, and Gentex. AdaSky has also entered into strategic partnerships and collaboration agreements with major industry players like Magneti Marelli and Gentex and has won contracts to supply its technology for production vehicles, including a Level 4 autonomous electric vehicle. The company's technology has received multiple CES Innovation Awards and recognition from organizations like DEKRA for its contribution to automotive safety.
