About Active Circle

Active Circle operates as a non-profit organization with a declared mission of fostering "Active Connected Communities". The organization was established in May 2020 by co-founders Aanya Shah and Nivriti Vira, who were in high school at the time. Driven by a shared goal of promoting positive change, they created a platform designed to encourage a comprehensive approach to well-being, covering both mental and physical health.

The business model is that of a non-profit, relying on fundraising activities and partnerships to support its mission. The organization has successfully raised funds for other non-profits, including nearly $2,000 for No Kid Hungry and approximately $800 for the South Asian Heart Center through a fitness challenge. It also provided financial support for oxygen tanks during the COVID-19 crisis in India. The platform allows users to create or join group activities, aiming to bring individuals together through a mutual interest in a healthy lifestyle. Active Circle also functions as a certifying organization for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA), an honor both founders have received, and they nominate volunteers for this recognition.

The organization primarily serves communities by hosting events and fundraisers. It has established partnerships with several other foundations and groups, including the Khushiyaan Foundation, West Valley Waters, Narika, the South Asian Heart Center, and the Girl Scouts of Northern California. The team has expanded to include other students who lead various divisions, such as the Athletic Division, to further promote health and community engagement through sports.
