ACM Biolabs
Biotechnology company focused on developing novel vaccines and antibodies using our proprietary artificial cell membrane ("ACM") technology
About ACM Biolabs
ACM Biolabs is a clinical-stage biotechnology firm operating from Singapore and Switzerland, focused on creating prophylactic and therapeutic vaccines. Founded in 2012 by Dr. Madhavan Nallani, the company originated as a spin-off from Singapore's A*STAR's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE). Dr. Nallani, who also serves as CEO and CSO, developed the company's core intellectual property based on over 15 years of research in Germany, the Netherlands, and Singapore. The firm operates on a business-to-business model, partnering with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to develop its product pipeline.
The company's core technology is its proprietary ACM Tunable Platform (ATP™), a polymer/lipid hybrid, non-viral delivery system. The building blocks of this platform are Artificial Cell Membranes (ACMs), which are composed of block co-polymers that self-assemble to form nanocarriers. This platform is versatile, capable of encapsulating and delivering various payloads, including proteins, peptides, small molecules, and mRNA. A key advantage of the ATP™ is its thermostability, which permits the storage of mRNA formulations at standard refrigerator temperatures (2-8°C), removing the need for the ultra-low cold chain required by many lipid nanoparticle (LNP) systems. The platform is designed to target specific antigen-presenting cells, enabling a more efficient immune response with smaller amounts of payload.
ACM Biolabs has a growing pipeline of products targeting infectious diseases, oncology, and ophthalmology. Its lead candidate, ACM-001, is a booster vaccine for SARS-CoV-2 that has completed a Phase I trial, where it was shown to be safe and well-tolerated for both intramuscular and intranasal administration. Other pipeline programs include ACM-005 for oncology, which is expected to enter Phase I, and ACM-010 for respiratory infections. The company is also engaged in significant collaborations, including a partnership with DIOSynVax to develop a universal bird flu vaccine and another with the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to advance its mRNA delivery technology. The company has received funding from investors such as Venturelab, NTUitive, and DSM through several seed rounds.
