Accordance is a San Francisco-based AI-native platform designed for tax, audit, and accounting professionals. Founded in 2024 by former fintech founders and Stanford AI researchers David Yue (CEO) and Finsam Samson (CTO), the company aims to address the expertise gap and talent shortage in the accounting industry. The founders, who studied at Stanford's AI lab, launched the company to help professionals navigate the complex and evolving web of financial regulations.

Accordance officially launched to the public in September 2025 with $13 million in total funding, which included a $3 million pre-seed round led by General Catalyst and a $10 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures. Other notable investors include Anthropic, NEA, Bain Capital Ventures, and Sequoia Capital. The platform acts as an intelligent co-pilot, designed to augment the capabilities of human professionals rather than replace them. It assists with complex scenarios, research, and compliance by providing access to a vast library of authoritative materials, including federal, state, and international statutes, court precedents, and accounting standards.

The company's multi-agent AI system is engineered to provide accurate, cited analysis that outperforms general foundation models on specialized accounting and tax reasoning tasks. It integrates into existing workflows with enterprise-grade security, including SOC 2 Type II certification, and does not train on customer data to ensure privacy. The platform serves a range of clients from boutique practices and in-house teams to large nationwide firms, with companies like Figma and Quora among its customers. Accordance is also partnering with educational institutions, such as the University of San Francisco School of Law, to integrate its AI tools into the curriculum to train the next generation of accountants.
