Drug product development services covering drug product testing, formulation, manufacturing and packaging
About AAIPharma Services
Founded in 1979, AAIPharma began its journey as a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on developing and acquiring branded products. The company provided a range of services, including formulation development, analytical testing, and manufacturing, supporting drug development from the laboratory to commercialization. An early leader for the company was Frederick D. Sancilio, who served as Executive Chairman and Chief Scientific Officer. A pivotal moment in the company's story occurred in late 2013 when AAIPharma Services announced its intent to merge with Cambridge Major Laboratories (CML), a company specializing in active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) development and manufacturing. This strategic move aimed to create a comprehensive, integrated service provider for the pharmaceutical industry. Patrick Walsh, then CEO of AAIPharma, was appointed CEO of the newly merged entity. This merger of two highly respected firms created a powerful new player in the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) space. The combined company offered an end-to-end solution, from API and solid-state chemistry to finished dosage form manufacturing and packaging. In March 2016, the unified company rebranded, leaving behind its legacy names to become Alcami, a name reflecting its transformation. Today, Alcami operates as a leading CDMO, serving pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide.
