The Magnificent 7 are in 45% of 2026’s venture dollars

Alphabet, Amazon, Apple, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia and Tesla took part in 188 venture rounds in the first nine months of 2026. Those rounds raised $308 billion between them — 45% of all the venture capital raised worldwide, out of 1.3% of all rounds. Four deals account for $237 billion of it.

Four rounds are the reason the money moved: OpenAI at $122bn, Anthropic twice at $65bn and $30bn, and xAI at $20bn. Together they are $237 billion of this year’s $308 billion.

Deal count tells a different story from deal value, and it is the one that separates the seven from each other.

The seven are a stock-market grouping, not a dealmaking one. Three of them barely invest at all.

Apple, Meta and Tesla have joined 13 rounds between them since 2023. Alphabet has joined 496.

What changed since 2024

Dealroom’s May 2024 report on the Magnificent 7 said major acquisitions were “basically off the table” under regulatory scrutiny, and that the seven were dominating venture rounds instead. The first half of that no longer holds: they bought 26 companies in 2026, against 56 in 2013, but at prices a decade ago would not have cleared.

What this means

The concentration is in the dollars, not the deals. Four rounds carry $237 billion of this year’s $308 billion, so the 45% figure describes a handful of AI companies raising at a scale nobody else can match, financed in large part by the firms that also sell them compute.

Underneath that, the seven are diverging. Alphabet runs the largest venture operation of any company in the world, across sixteen vehicles, and still leads on deal count. Nvidia built one from almost nothing in three years and now deploys the most money. Amazon has held flat on deal count. Microsoft’s has more than halved since 2021, even as it wrote the single largest cheques. Apple, Meta and Tesla are not really in this business.

And the acquisition freeze has ended. Alphabet bought Wiz for $32 billion, Nvidia bought Groq for $20 billion and Hugging Face for $12.9 billion, Amazon bought Globalstar for $11.6 billion.
