European defence startups developing anti-drone solutions
View on Dealroom
Drones have fundamentally changed the nature of modern warfare. The conflict in Ukraine has shown how low-cost, mass-produced UAVs can overwhelm traditional air defences, destroy armoured vehicles, and threaten critical infrastructure. With drone incursions increasingly reported across European airspace, from airports to military bases and energy facilities, countering unmanned aerial threats has become one of the most urgent defence challenges in Europe. Europe is responding. The Baltic countries, often in direct collaboration with Ukrainian forces, have emerged as a particularly active hub for C-UAS innovation. VC investment in the space is accelerating, though most startups remain in early stages, with the technology evolving as fast as the threats it aims to counter. We mapped some of the most interesting European startups building counter-drone solutions across four categories: Detection & Tracking, Electronic Warfare & Jamming, Kinetic & Hard-Kill Countermeasures, and Platforms & Autonomous Systems.More info on how to navigate Dealroom defence taxonomy below.
