Developing drugs is becoming more difficult and costly, despite tech advancements. Not only does it take up to a decade and ~$2.7B to develop a new drug but by 2030, patents will expire for nearly 200 drugs. To remedy time and cost losses, techbio startups are working to make every drug development phases faster, cheaper and more effective. Notably, using AI in the first stages could reduce cycle time from 5-7 to 3-5 years before reaching clinical trials.
