The cooling of buildings, industrial processes, and supply chain accounts for 7% of global GHG emissions, which is higher than aviation that sits at 2%.1 More importantly, cooling consumption is expected to increase with over 7 billion air conditioning units in operation by 2070. This is linked to the changing climate, the increased frequency of extreme weather events such as heat waves, and the heat island phenomenon in urban environments.
